PGCC 2nd XI started their league with a winning draw against Great Kingshill. PG batted first and were soon in trouble losing both openers for 0 before debutant Majid Sharif walked to the crease and then dispatched the ball to all parts of the ground including into Carters Steam fair to score a blazing 142. He received notable support from vice-captain Chris Heyes (33) and then from another debutant Zulqurin Tariq who scored 51no. This enabled Pinkneys to declare at 292-8 off 50 overs. Only Walters returned sensible bowling figures of 12-1-51-3. In reply Great Kingshill ’s batsmen all got starts with Jacob Mikurenda batting sensibly to go on to make 56 before being bowled by the Green skipper Imran Tariq. Wickets continued to fall and it was left to Kooner and Walters t bat the last overs to give Great Kingshill a draw. Afterwards the Green skipper was heard to say “that was a lesson learnt – I needed to declare slightly earlier!”. Next up for the Green is an away game at Englefield.
