Humble Pinkneys Green oust mighty Datchet from the Davistow Village Cup.

After a potentially disastrous mix-up over the start time, Captain Chris Heyes invited Datchet to bat on a good but still soft wicket at the Green.The game quickly went in the Greens favour as the Datchet batsmen found the going difficult against new ball bowlers Mark Peck and Jags Dhillon, backed up by some unusually safe catching from the Pinkneys Green fieldsmen with Nadeem Asif's effort running in from the deep to dismiss Datchet Skipper and star bat Tim Allois a particular highlight. Datchet were soon in trouble at 62-6 and although Datchet then tried to consolidate after too many big shots against fine bowling from all the Pinkneys bowlers with Saleem Ahmed and Mark Peck in particular being too good for the Datchet upper order. Tight spells from Nadeen Asif and Ben Snapes and a much improved performance (No byes) behind the stumps from young Jack Stemp ensured that Datchet quickly subsided to 91 all out. After the usual high standard of tea provided by Kathy Snapes and her helpers Kay and Victoria in the kitchen, Pinkneys Green then started very poorly with Mike Elliot getting a very good ball first up to leave the Green on 0-1 from 1 ball. Tanvir Butt, Nadeen Asif and Jags Dhillon then all played positively to ensure the Green proceeded towards their small target at some pace. The innings of Tanvir Butt was especially memorable as he deposited the Datchet bowlers over the ropes six times as Pinkneys Green played out of their skins for the second time this year in the Village Cup. Captain Chris Heyes was not out at the end as the target was reached in the 13th over. A great performance allround with lots of good bowling and batting and a sound fielding display with Danish Khan also holding an excellent catch and Javeed Iqbal working especially hard as always in the field.
