PGCC win by 161 runs in a 45 over match against a young WSL XI
WSl won the toss and inserted PGCC on a hard dry track which is unusual at this time of year. Opener Apps took the wickets of both openers in a very tidy 2 spells taking 3-47 off his 8 overs. Chris Heyes in at 3 scored 67 with an average of 12 for each time he was dropped! Jags Dhillon took the game away from WSL with his normal shot making and 6 scoring!. At the other other end both Tanveer Butt (43) and Danish Khan (51) made excellent contributions allowing the Green to declare on 274 off just 35 overs.
After the tea break the Greens two opening bowlers Mark Peck & Saleem Ahmed both took early wickets to leave WSL in trouble. They were ably supported by young Ben Snapes bowling 6 overs and taking 2-14 including opener Mather (28) who was building a good looking innings. Jags Dhillon then took over the mantle to remove the dangerous Greenfield for a well constructed 33. Peck then returned to wrap the innings for 113.
A solid performance apart from the 3 dropped catches but a good work out to start the season.
